Central State beats Erksine in five sets
DUE WEST, South Carolina - The Central State Marauders earned their first victory of 2023 with a five set road win over Erskine on Wednesday night.
After dropping the opening set, CSU (1-2) rallied to win the second set, 25-20, and the third set, 25-23. Erskine (1-1) took the fourth set, 25-22. In an extended fifth and deciding set, the Marauders came out on top, 20-18.
As a team, CSU totaled 59 kills and 19 errors on 135 attacks for a .296 hitting percentage. Erskine accounted for 50 kills, 26 errors and 122 attacks for a .197 hitting percentage.
CSU was led offensively by Henrique Doederlein Do Amaril's 19 kills.
Ljubisa Novakovic had 14 kills and
Cameron Lee recorded 13 kills.
Marcus Franck accounted for 51 assists.
D'Aaron McCraney led CSU with 5 blocks while
Victor Scherer finished with 13 digs.
CSU hosts Maryville on January 21st.

With Wednesday's result, CSU head coach Anitra Brockman earned her first collegiate victory as a men's volleyball coach.
Henrique Doederlein Do Amaril was named Off The Block's Offensive Player of the Night.
CSU setter
Marcus Franck recorded 50 or more assists for the second time in his collegiate career.
D'Aaron McCraney sealed the victory for the Marauder with a block in the fifth set. McCraney finished with five blocks on Wednesday night.
