Willie Jackson and Marcus Scott IV represent Central State at NBPA HBCU Top 50 Camp

Guards Willie Jackson and Marcus Scott recently represented the Central State University basketball program at the National Basketball Players' Association HBCU Top 50 Camp in Atlanta, Georgia last week.

First developed in 2017, the Top 50 Camp features a group of the best players from the SIAC and SWAC, respectively. Modeled after the NBPA's Top 100 Camp, players at the Top 50 Camp receive on-court skill instruction from current and retired NBA players and participate in leadership and personal development sessions off the court. The Top 50 Camp also allows players to showcase their talent against the best of their neighboring conference through highly competitive scrimmages and games.

Jackson, a 6'0 guard from Indiana, emerged as CSU's leading scorer last season. Jackson steadily improved in every major statistical category last season. He went from logging a total of 85 minutes and a 1.3 scoring average as a freshman to a dramatic increase of 430 total minutes played this season while averaging 10.8 points per game which includes a season-high 31 points against Bluefield State in the final regular season game of 2022.

Scott, who highlights a strong recruiting class for the Marauders, has transferred to Central State for the upcoming 2022-2023 season. While playing at Savannah State, Scott averaged 13.1 points per game. He led the Tigers to the SIAC Tournament title while earning SIAC Tournament MVP honors.

ABOUT THE NBPA
The National Basketball Players Association (NBPA) is the union for current professional basketball players in the National Basketball Association (NBA).  Established in 1954, the NBPA's mission is to ensure that the rights of NBA players are protected and that every conceivable measure is taken to assist players in maximizing their opportunities and achieving their goals -- on and off the court.

The NBPA advocates on behalf of the best interests of all NBA players, including the negotiation of collective bargaining agreements, the filing of grievances on behalf of the players, or counseling players on benefits, educational and post-NBA career opportunities.

In addition, the NBPA provides a forum for players to participate in union activities -- from executive leadership roles, to team representative positions, global community outreach initiatives. The NBPA offers each NBA player the opportunity to get involved in the democratic institution that was created for, continues to exist for and is run by them.
