Central State runner Aaron Drumright and jumper Amarianna Lofton record wins at Tiffin University


TIFFIN, Ohio - In the second indoor meet of the season, Central State University student-athletes combined for two individual wins and 19 top-five finishes.


Leading the CSU women's efforts was Amrianna Lofton. Lofton won the high jump with a mark of 1.67m (5'5.75"). Lofton also competed in the 60 meter hurdles, finishing in sixth with a time of 9.65. Tylar Lightbourn finished in second in the 60 meter dash (7.89) and fourth in the 200 meter race (26.63). In the 400 meter race, Jurnie Hemsley finished in third place with a pace of 1:02.34 followed by a fourth place run by teammate Jaylin Bradshaw (1:02.50). Mariah Huston finished in fifth place in the mile (6:10.48) and the 3000 meter race (12:18.63). Yafia Abdullah also recorded a fifth place finish with a mark 10.08, (33'1") in the triple jump.


The team of Bradshaw, Hemsley, Lightbourn and Kaylah Huston came in second place in the 4 x 400 meter relay with a time of 4:19.43. 


On the men's side, Aaron Drumright recorded the first win of his collegiate career in the mile with a pace of 4:48.00. His brother Andrew finished in third in the event (4:50.00) with teammate QiAden Marks coming in fifth (4:58.09). Demari Johnson placed fifth in the 60 meter dash (7.02) and third in the 200 meter dash (22.84). Juwan Ridgby finished behind Johnson in the 200 meter dash with a time of 22.96.


Rigby and Johnson later teamed up with James Lacking and William Brutus to record a second place finished in the 4 x 400 relay (3:29.56).


In the field events, Mitchell Jean Baptiste came in fifth place in the high jump (1.88m/6'2"). Tyler Nelson recorded a fourth place finish in the triple jump with a mark of 12.52m (41'1").


CSU will return to competition on Saturday, Jan. 14 at the HBCU Invite held at the Armory in New York City.
