Box Score Central State University's football team kicked-off the season September 6, 2014 playing against Clark Atlanta University. Central State Marauders beat Clark Atlanta 28 to 18.
Coach
Cedric Pearl says "I am extremely proud of the players and coaches. "Central has not won a first homegame since 1996. Pearl says this was a good at home victory. Not only had the football team left the field feeling victorious, so did the student body and the alumni that came out to support.Â
Student player
Zach Thomas #85 said "feeling the spirit and high energy from the crowd and band helped us as a team." Every seat on the home-side and every walkway was filled with friends and love ones.
The team did an outstanding job as a whole but a few players stood out: John Adams #23, Terrance Walford #8, Justin Woodwest #57,
Zach Thomas #85, Christopher Murray #6, Okoye Bozeman #3, and Deshawn Tucker #5. These players went above and beyond. But this was a total team victory. With the "Bahamas HBCU X Classic" approaching the team hopes to have the same support and high level energy from the students and alum.
