Box Score Fairfield, AL - Â After handing Miles their only conference loss last season at McPherson Stadium, the Marauders were unable to achieve the same outcome on Saturday when they traveled down to play the Golden Bears, losing 22-12.
Central State fell behind early as Miles scored touchdowns on two of its first three possessions, taking a 20-0 lead over the Marauders at halftime. CSU managed just 86 yards of offense in the first half.
At the start of the 3rd quarter, the Marauders moved the ball, reaching the Miles 35 before the drive stalled. CSU would finally break through in their second posession of the quarter which included a 4th down conversion pass from
Michael Wilson to tight end
Zach Thomas. CSU would later score on the drive on a pass from Wilson to leading Marauder receiver
Christopher Murray. A failed extra point attempt turned into 2 points for Miles as the defense returned a blocked
John Adams kick 98 yards to make the score 22-6.Â
Michael Wilson provided another score late in the 4th quarter with a rushing touchdown, but the Miles lead proved to be insurmountable as the Marauders fell victim to their 5th consecutive loss.
Central State (1-5; 1-3 in SIAC) return to Wilberforce to end the season with 4 consecutive home games beginning with Homecoming next Saturday against Concordia College.
