Headed to the NCAA Tournament
Coach Lewis and the team
The Central State University Men’s Basketball team has won seventh seed in the NCAA Midwest Division II Basketball Tournament. The Central State University Marauders are scheduled to play the Knights of Bellarmine University (KY) Saturday, March 13, 2010.

The Tournament will be held at Kentucky Wesleyan College in Owensboro, KY the weekend of March 13-14, 2010.  The Regional Finals Game will be held March 16, 2010 at Kentucky Wesleyan.

CSU Head Basketball Coach Doug Lewis is very excited that Central State University was tapped to compete in the NCAA Division II Midwest Regional. It’s CSU’s second year of eligibility to go to the Division II Regional.

“I’m texting everybody I know,” Coach Lewis said. “This is a great payoff for all the hard work the players and coaches have been doing all year,” he said. “We thank God for this,” he added. “We wouldn’t be in this without Him.”

In the tournament, each team gets one chance to win to remain in competition. The winner of the regional will go on to compete in the Elite Eight in Springfield, MA.

“I truly believe we can win it all. Our team is really excited going into this tournament,” Coach Lewis said. “The most important factor is which team wants it the most,” he said. “that’s the team that survives – the one that executes well and plays with heart.”
