Central State University Athletics

After losing two games as the New Year began, the CSU Lady Marauders looked to get back on track against Oakland City University. The Lady Marauders trailed at half 40-34 while shooting only 37 percent to the Lady Oaks 58 percent. In the second half Oakland City built a lead of ten and led 46-36 before the Lady Marauders turned up the defensive pressure and went on a 12-2 run and tied the game at 58 all with a jumper by sophomore Longmire, Laura (Muskegon, MI) at the 12:58 mark. That run continued to a 59-48 CSU lead before Oakland City scored again. This run propelled the Lady Marauders to a 75-62 win. The Lady Marauders held Oakland City to one point from 14:27 when they scored their 48^th point until the 5:22 mark when they hit a jumper for two points. Otherwise for nine minutes they only made on free throw.

            CSU was led by point guard McGee, Ashley (Milwaukee, WI)with 17 points, and three other starters finished in double figure scoring: Gober, Deshundra (Monroe, GA)had 14, Morrow, Brooklyn (Avon, IN)13 and Longmire, Laura (Muskegon, MI)added 12. The Lady Marauders had 17 steals to help force Oakland City into 31 turnovers which led to 28 points. CSU had 19 turnovers that Oakland City could only turn into 8 points.  Central State controlled the boards 41 to 36 and that included 13 offensive rebounds.
